Community Guidelines

Prohibited Conduct

You may not use ClassSwap to:

• Sell, list for sale, or offer a course seat, spot, or registration slot for money or other consideration.
• Purchase, offer to purchase, or otherwise pay for a course seat, spot, or enrollment opportunity.
• Exchange money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, goods, services, or any other consideration for course access.
• Share, transfer, sell, or request another student's login credentials for ClassSwap, a university system, or any registration portal.
• Attempt to bypass, manipulate, script against, or otherwise circumvent your university's registration system, waitlist rules, or add/drop deadlines.
• Misrepresent your enrollment status, academic standing, identity, school affiliation, or any information in a listing, message, or profile.
• Use ClassSwap in any way that violates your institution's registration policies, academic integrity code, student conduct code, or other rules.
• Harass, threaten, dox, or discriminate against any other user.
• Use profanity, vulgar language, sexually explicit or suggestive content, threatening or violent language, or content referencing self-harm, in any listing, message, comment, or profile.
• Use direct messages to solicit payment, harass, spam, or send unsolicited commercial content.
• Repeatedly message a user who has not responded, has blocked you, or has asked you to stop.
• Post spam, off-topic content, commercial promotions, or content unrelated to student course connections.
• Scrape, mirror, resell, or otherwise misuse ClassSwap data or content.

Class Insights: Posting About Professors

When posting a question, answer, or comment in Class Insights that references a professor, in addition to the Prohibited Conduct rules above, you may not:

• Comment on a professor's appearance, dress, age, gender, or race.
• Make claims that a professor shows bias for or against a student or group of students without direct firsthand experience to support it.
• Make claims about a professor's employment status, past or present.
• Accuse a professor of engaging in illegal activity.
• Reference a professor's family, personal life, or relationships unrelated to the classroom experience.
• Post content in a language other than English.

Posts should focus on your own firsthand experience with the course and teaching style. This helps keep Class Insights a reliable, fair resource for other students.

What ClassSwap Is — and Isn't

ClassSwap connects students with compatible course interests. It does not transfer, reserve, guarantee, or reassign any seat in any class. Course seats belong to the institution, not to any user or to ClassSwap. Any actual registration change is made solely by each student, through their own school's official registration system, subject to that institution's policies.

ClassSwap Is Not an Emergency or Safety Reporting Channel

ClassSwap is not equipped to handle reports of dangerous, illegal, or emergency situations. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, or you become aware of illegal activity, contact your campus authorities, local law enforcement, or emergency services (911) directly. Because connections made through ClassSwap may lead to in-person meetings, use the same caution you would with anyone you meet online: meet in public, well-lit, populated locations, and consider bringing a friend.

Institutional Policies Vary

Each institution has different registration policies. ClassSwap does not determine whether a course change, enrollment adjustment, or registration action is permitted. Students should consult their institution's official registration resources before taking any action.

Blocking

You can block any user at any time from their profile or a message thread. Blocking works in both directions: neither of you can message the other, send connection requests, view each other’s profile, or see each other’s listings. Blocking does not automatically file a report — use the report button separately if you believe someone has violated these guidelines.

Enforcement

We reserve the right to remove any content we determine, in our sole discretion, to be defamatory, obscene, sexually explicit, hateful, discriminatory, threatening, or otherwise in violation of these guidelines or our Terms of Service, without prior notice.

We may remove content, restrict features, suspend, or permanently ban accounts that violate these guidelines, at our sole discretion. Minor or first-time violations typically result in a warning; repeated or serious violations may result in immediate suspension or ban. Serious or repeated violations may be reported to the user's institution or to law enforcement where appropriate.

If content threatens violence or bodily harm to another user, we may notify campus authorities or law enforcement and, where the relevant account or message still exists, provide it as permitted by our Privacy Policy.

Reporting

If you see conduct that violates these guidelines, use the report button on the relevant post, message, or profile, or contact us. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team. We do not disclose the identity of the reporting user to the reported user. Depending on severity, action may range from a warning to permanent suspension, consistent with the Enforcement section above.
